04 Apr Prince George’s County Park Rx Kickoff
It is with great pleasure that we announce that The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, is joining the national Park Prescription initiative (Park Rx).
Park Rx America is a national initiative dedicated to using and strengthening the connection between healthcare, parks, and public lands to improve physical and mental health among individuals and communities. The Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation is a well-respected leader in its field. With 6 National Gold Medals for Excellence in Parks and Recreation, we have surpassed every Parks and Recreation Department in the nation. The Department provides quality recreation programs, facilities, and services within our communities and promotes health and wellness.
We need health professionals, like you, to connect your patients/customers with parks in order to encourage overall behavioral change, improve health outcomes and foster new stewards and advocates for public lands. Park Prescription programs give healthcare providers a new set of tools to inspire patients to take proactive steps to improve their health.
If you are interested in helping us transform the health outcomes of County residents, please join us to learn more about our partnership with Park Rx America. You are invited to our kickoff luncheon as Park Rx champions and stakeholders from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the College Park Airport Operations Building, 1909 Corporal Frank Scott Drive, College Park, MD 20740.
