Medicaid Expansion in Virginia: Special In-Person Application Assistance Event:
Northern Virginia Family Service is organizing an in-person Medicaid application assistance event on March 12th, 2019 at George Mason University. This event will consist of three 2 hour in-person assistance sessions being offered from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Each session will start with a 30 minute health literacy training to help consumers better understand the initial roadmap to health, how to start using their new Medicaid coverage, why it is important to have a primary care provider, and when to use the emergency room for services. The remaining hour and a half will be spent providing participants a chance to complete Medicaid applications with assistors of many languages.
Who Should Attend: Virginia residents who are not currently enrolled in Medicaid and meet new eligibility rules, such as income requirements that vary by household size. Any volunteers who can provide application assistance or translation assistance are welcome to sign up here.
